Abendanon signs new Clermont Auvergne contract
Clermont Auvergne full-back Nick Abendanon has signed a new two year deal to stay at the French Top 14 side until 2020. Since moving to Clermont, from Bath in 2014, he has taken his game to the next level. The 31-year-old, who has made two appearances for England, was voted European Player of the Year for 2015 after his first season in France. He played a key role in guiding Clermont to European Champions Cup and Top 14 finals.
Talking to the club website, Clermont director of rugby Franck Azéma said: “This is very good news. The game Nick practices fits perfectly with the idea of rugby that we are doing with my staff. Since his arrival, he has taken his place both in the field but also in the locker room where his leadership is growing.”
